Workstudy Holiday Party!

The workstudy holiday party took place last Friday (Dec. 9) in the Studio Theatre.  Damon's scenic workstudy and Purple Paul spent the morning making the theatre a Winter Wonderland in advance of the party and the MTA semi-formal dance that evening.

 The lovely decor!
Elle gleefully steals a gift during the exchange!
Lexi smugly steals some Toy Story bags.
Seana is thrilled with her Playdough!
Purple Paul's fancy setup for trivia
One trivia team...complete with Ian, Seana, and Sassy (the knitter!)
Lexi and Constance win the one-handed gift wrapping game!  This is (we think) the 4th year in a row that they have dominated the game.
Elle made an EPIC gingerbread castle!
Constance made her own Mr. Potatohead...(the potato was actually something won in the gift exchange.  In the giver's defense, it WAS a GIGANTIC potato.)

Curse!

A quick preview of the set and costumes

 Clarice, the little scene-stealer!
Lexi samples some stage blood during class

Curse of the Starving Class opens tonight!

No one delves into the darkest corners of domesticity like Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Sam Shepard. His expositions on the death of the American family—part obituary, part police blotter—crackle with savage wit, exhilarating brutality, and the high-stakes hubris of Greek tragedy.
The Tate family is barely subsisting on a scrap of a California avocado farm. Son Wesley stands on the precarious edge of manhood, his prospects dim, while his sister Emma immerses herself in 4-H projects and horse-back fantasies. Their father Weston has driven the family deep into debt, but he's got a scheme to sell the place and start fresh. He has no idea that his wife Ella is cooking up a deal of her own.

Tech for Merrily...

Tech is actually going rather well!  Everyone looks lovely and the show is a lot of fun. I'll post some show pictures when I can download a couple off of Facebook (it won't let me on Firefox and I can't get into it on IE).

We had some time yesterday, and Constance wanted to make up a 1960's hair tutorial for the actors and wardrobe....

Yeah, Jess and I were the victims.  Doesn't Jess look thrilled at her new look?

Amazing Woman

Here is one of the wonderful people we have working in our shop.
Dayna walked 60 (yep SIXTY) miles over three days to raise money for breast cancer research. We are so proud to know her. Our students teach us things every day.

Stagecraft class and random

Marilyn teaches buttons!

 Students practice zippers!

More students work on their best friends!

Sometimes, we're just desperate for wigs...

Of course there's blood in our fridge.  Don't you have some too?
