New
Visions Directors' Festival opens
Wednesday! |
Don't miss this
showcase of rarely produced, avant-garde theatre pieces, staged by some
of our most promising up-and-coming theatre artists. The festival includes two
evenings, presented in repertory. Attend both and save! See
below for details. |
Iphigenia and Other
Daughters
|
by Ellen McLaughlin directed by Danielle Barlow
"The world will
never forgive us if we do not make sense of it."
McLaughlin’s
modern adaptation of the legend of Agamemnon and the aftermath of the Trojan War
offers a bold, provocative feminist perspective on a story of
lust, fury, sacrifice and rebellion. The "good girl" of the bloodiest family in
Greek legend, Iphigenia is sent in a time of suffering and war as a sacrifice to
appease the gods. She is saved at the eleventh hour, but by then her family has
spiraled into vengeful obsession and self-destruction, leaving
her to seek her own path from the wreckage.

through it, and the uncertainty that lies
beyond.
